What We Do
Our Work
The Addy Relief Network (ARN) is a faith-based, national non-governmental organization in South Sudan, established in 2016. Our mission is to empower people and communities affected by poverty, illiteracy, disease, and social injustice. We are committed to achieving positive and sustainable change in the lives of women, girls, and children through our humanitarian, development, and advocacy efforts. Our programs are grounded in Christian principles and are designed to address the specific needs of communities in South Sudan.
Our Programs
Our programs are built around key areas to protect the rights of children and women and to build community resilience:
-
Child Protection and Women’s Rights: We work to eradicate child labor, reintegrate children affected by armed conflicts, and protect women and girls against gender-based violence (SGBV). We also raise awareness to reduce the risk of children being abused, victimized, and having their rights neglected.
-
Primary Health Care and Education: We aim to reduce mortality and morbidity rates through timely and quality healthcare services. We also contribute to reducing malnutrition among children under five through supplementary feeding programs. In education, we promote inclusive access, retention, and transition for children in school.
-
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH): We improve community health and well-being by providing sustainable access to safe water and promoting hygienic practices. This includes providing clean water for internally displaced people and returnees.
-
Food Security, Nutrition, and Livelihood: We work to improve food security and livelihoods through crop and livestock production, fishing, and promoting self-reliance. We also offer technical and vocational training with start-up support to empower youth and women.
-
Peacebuilding and Governance: We have extensive experience in peacebuilding, reconciliation, and social cohesion initiatives. We promote democracy and good governance through empowering women, girls, children, and civil society.
Our Impact
Our work is measured by the tangible impact we have on the communities we serve. We have successfully:
-
Established strong relationships and coordination among community leaders, local authorities, and church leaders to respond to child rights issues.
-
Increased the participation of children and young people in community decision-making processes.
-
Strengthened local child protection mechanisms and raised awareness about child protection within communities and among local authorities.
-
Provided psychosocial support and reintegration services for vulnerable children affected by armed conflicts.
-
Enhanced the economic empowerment of women and youth through capacity-building and business development services.
